This past week I have been helping my friend get organized for a yard sale. I believe that Summer is the perfect time to do this. You can make extra money and get rid of the junk that you've "been meaning to get rid of for years". Remember, You're Junk is another person's Treasure!
Here are some tips and reminders for having a yard sale:
- It may be a lot of work, but in the end it is worth it!
- If you don't want to organize it all by yourself, get some friends involved and split your profits (they can bring items they want to get rid of too!)
- Have some snacks and refreshments sitting out for your buyers. It will hydrate them during the hot summer day and they will probably look around longer (and hopefully buy more stuff :D)
- Make sure to Advertise! You can make posters and signs, advertise in the newspaper, and/or advertise online (craigslit.org could be a place to start).
- Check with your city to see if they require you to get a permit (I heard on the news about children getting fined for having a lemonade sale and I don't want that to happen to you.)
- Be ready an hour before your yard sale starts, because there usually are a few early birds.
- When deciding prices think if you would buy that item for that price.
- HAVE FUN!
I am excited for the yard sale that I have been organizing to happen! I hope that you decide to have one too. Remember, don't make it stressful and just have fun with it! Think of how organized your house will be afterward and all the space you will have for new things!!
Please comment below! I would love to hear your thoughts. Have you had a yard sale before? Have you been thinking about having one? Let me know :)
