I'm all about being healthy this summer and I want to stick by it. I want to prevent myself from regretting the snacks I eat in a moment of weakness, so I've stocked my fridge with fruit. I love fruit, but tend to forget about it when I'm hungry and just want a snack. So now I am trying to program myself to think "Eat the Fruit" when I want something to munch on. Here are a few different types of fruit that I have been snacking on during the Summer:
Watermelon
I never realized how much I love this summer fruit! I never knew much about it and its health facts. Did you know that watermelon is a great source of Vitamin-A and other antioxidants? Vitamin-A is very important. It helps you have healthy skin, healthy teeth, a good immune system, and good vision. Watermelon is also low in calories and full of electrolytes. Since this delicious fruit is full of water content, it is the perfect fruit to help quench your thirst during the hot Summer. My advice is stop by your local market or grocery store and pick yourself up a watermelon today! Enjoy :)
Blueberries
I have always been a fan of blueberries, ever since I can remember. It was one of the main fruits that I would eat with my breakfast every morning. Now I have decided to have blueberries as a summer snack. Blueberries are known to be the top fruit provider of antioxidants. Antioxidants help against oxidative damage in our bodies that can lead to heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and other problems. Antioxidants can also strengthen your immune system. Blueberries are also said to help reduce belly fat, which means that this is a perfect summer fruit for those of you who wan that "perfect beach body".
Strawberries
Strawberries are another one of my favorites. This yummy fruit is also high in antioxidants. Some fun facts that I have heard about strawberries is that they help keep you vision clear, increase your memory, and can even lead to you having whiter teeth.
Kiwi
I love kiwi! Did you know that kiwi contains about the same amount of potassium that a banana does? Kiwi also contains Vitamin A, C, and E. It is said that kiwis can help improve asthmatic conditions, especially in children. Another fact is that it can help decrease the chance of getting colon cancer.
What I have been doing is making little fruit salads that include these fruits. They are perfect summer snacks and the combination tastes DELICIOUS!!
I want to hear about healthy summer snacks that you enjoy and any ideas that you want to share!

Working out in the Summertime
Summer is all about feelin' good and having fun. Throughout this season you may hear about the "perfect beach body" and it may stress you out. I'm not going to list ways to get that great body, but I will talk about some thoughts I have about working out in this hot hot hot season.
***************************************************************
I live in Florida and summers can be brutal. Yes, it is fun to kick back at the beach and get a tan (or at least in my case, try to), but it can be hard to motivate yourself to workout. I was on a cross country team for four years in high school and had to practice all summer long at three in the afternoon. Let's just say I understand how hot it can be. If you decide to go out and run once it may be harder to do it again once you know the conditions. This post isn't directed to those marathon runners out there, but instead to those people who just want to stay fit and be healthy.
***************************************************************
I've decided that that is just what I want to do. I'm going to mix things up. During cross country we had a set schedule and at times it got pretty redundant. I don't want your summer workout to be a chore. I want you to be excited and motivated. I want you to look at it as you becoming a better, healthier you.
***************************************************************
So, I'm relating to you what I've chosen to do to help YOU make the first step or gain a few ideas.
Here's my PLAN:
I want to work out everyday, or at least six days a week. I'm trying to be as committed as possible and to look at it as a fun activity.
Some days I will...
-run a few miles and do some ab work
-go to the gym and...
-workout on the elliptical
-use the arm and leg machines
-lift weights
-Take part in a workout class(I love body sculpting!)
***************************************************************
This is just a start and it will probably change, but I want you to make those first steps too. Try something new! Be motivated! Get excited! Make a change! And most importantly: Have fun!
You are in control of yourself, your body, and your thoughts...so make the choice to become the best "Summer You" that you can. I believe in you, but most importantly make sure that you believe in YOU!
***************************************************************
Please comment and tell me your summer workout ideas! I'm excited

Summer Jewelry
Since my last post ended in Summer my posts will be related to this fun and vibrant season. Today I have decided to talk about summer jewelry, and to be more specific: summer jewelry made by well...ME!
Don't worry all of my posts won't be about my jewelry or me trying to advertise something, but I will admit that the reason I initially started this blog was to advertise. Now it will only be a small part of my blog, just incase some of you out there are interested in what my mom and I make and how you can buy it. Soo..here it goes!
My mom and I started making jewelry and found out that we really enjoy it. Then we started coming up with more ideas which now include: wine charms, wine stoppers, stationary and more! We didn't know how we were going to sell it, and finally decided to go with opening a shop on etsy.com! Our shop is called OhSoApropos (I know, shocker!) and you can visit it by going to OhSoApropos.etsy.com :)
I'm going to put up some pictures and I hope you visit our shop. We have different items for different seasons, or for whenever, but since I am all about Summer right now I will show you our summer jewelry. Enjoy!

Why be called Oh So Apropos?
apropos
definition:
-very appropriate to a particular situation
-with reference to; concerning
-fitting
-at the right time
-appropriate
So why write the definition of apropos in the first part of my first post in my first blog?
Well...because it is the basis for my blog. My blog is called Oh So Apropos and that is exactly what it will be. This blog will be appropriate to a particular situation, it will be fitting, it will be at the right time. So...this blog will be just that. It will be related to what I find to be appropriate and fitting to whatever situation or time I feel is important.
Now that I have briefly stated what the basis for my blog and its title is, I am excited to get started.
So as of now the time/situation I feel is appropriate to talk about is...drum roll please...
